Summer 2023 has been very busy so far! Here’s just a taste of what we’ve been up to…

Kicking off summer in style! We love celebrating our employees! We held our annual employee party right in our own backyard at our Operations Center in Kennebunk, with pizza, tacos, fun, games, and awards.

Volunteering! We were all over the community this summer, rolling up our sleeves and helping out wherever we could. Our Eliot branch hosted a bed building day for the local chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit organization that constructs new beds for children in the community who don’t have a bed of their own at home.

Meanwhile, we always look forward to getting out our rakes and wheelbarrows for our spring volunteer day at Waypoint every year, helping them get the place squeaky clean for their annual Tele-Fest–one of Kenny Bear’s favorite parties!

Every year we also participate in the United Way’s “Day of Action” and this year the volunteer turnout was so great, we split into two groups — one at the York Community Service Association, the other at the Seashore Trolley Museum. We also helped out at the Caring Unlimited Community 5K, Animal Welfare Society’s annual Woofstock festival, the Kennebunk Beach Classic 5K, and the always inspiring “Fill the Hall” event hosted by Gather at The Music Hall in Portsmouth.

Showing our Pride! We had an eventful Pride month with our employees participating in different events throughout the community. Highlights included marching in the Portsmouth Pride Parade and getting to help carry the ENORMOUS Pride flag through downtown Ogunquit!

Celebrating our friends! We love to commemorate the accomplishments and anniversaries of our nonprofit partners. Southern Maine Agency on Aging celebrates 50 years in the community this year, while the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire turns 40! In 2023, the cities of Portsmouth and Dover turn 400! Wow! We also checked in on the incredible community garden in Sanford, and visited the trees we planted in 2021 at the Southern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery.

Spreading fraud awareness! We do everything we can to help you stay steps ahead of scammers. We launched a new video series called True Fraud Stories, and our own Mike Moloney, SVP Corporate Development and Training Manager, popped on to WMTW to talk about how older adults can stay alert when it comes to fraudsters and their finances.

Sparking pronunciation debates! OK, we didn’t expect to cause such a stir with a silly little video, but it turns out people are very passionate about how to properly pronounce “Kennebunk.” Our video had everybody talking, including a daylong debate on WHOM!

Appreciating our customers! Every summer we love firing up the grills to show our customers how much we care. Our next customer appreciation event will be taking place at our Berwick branch on 8/18/23!

Learning! A huge part of the culture at Kennebunk Savings is professional development. We try to offer every opportunity to help our employees grow into the next phase of their careers. That includes our ongoing internal Leadership Academy — a new class of “Advancing Leaders” was recently selected for the two-year program, while the current class of “Emerging Leaders” attended TEDxPortsmouth! This also includes sending employees to the American Banker’s Association (ABA) Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania — where Adam and Lindsey just graduated from a three-year program — and the Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance (CFTEA), where a huge batch of our employees just recently received their certifications! We know, we know, all of this school is not very summer-y of us, but we like it anyway!

We had a great summer and have a lot to look forward to this fall!
