What does a good day at work look like to you?

A successful day means I have completed what I hoped to accomplish for the day, and I’ve answered three key questions. First, what did yesterday’s results teach us? Second, how are we using what we learned to make better decisions today? And third, how do these decisions shape our future success at the Bank? If I leave at the end of the day having answered these three questions, I consider that a day well spent.

What do you like best about the culture at Kennebunk Savings?

The culture is built entirely around people; it is the foundation of everything we do. We don’t just talk about helping each other; we do just that each day.

Which one of our brand values (Integrity, Empathy, Proactive, Trust) resonates most strongly with you?

It is hard to pick just one, as they are all great values, so I am going to break the rules and pick two! For me, Integrity and Trust are at the top of the list.

When I think about what we do as a community bank, it is centered around being a responsible steward for our customers’ financial lives. That’s a big responsibility, and it really depends on everyone here doing the right thing. To me, that is what Integrity is all about.

And Trust naturally follows that. Our customers and communities place their confidence in us, and we must earn that Trust every day.

What’s an important lesson you’ve learned in your career?

Technical expertise is important and it earns you credibility, but your judgment and how you approach decisions define the impact you make as a leader. I’ve learned that sometimes you need to take a step back, ask the right people the right questions and try not to rush a decision.

What living person do you most admire?

My dad. He is the biggest influence on who I am, both personally and professionally. He never has to say much, he just leads by example. I’ve watched him be the steady, dependable presence and an anchor for so many people in my life.

What words or phrases do you most overuse?

My coworkers know this all too well, but I tend to ponder for a moment and say, “This is what I’m thinking…”

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My family.

What do you love about your community?

We are fortunate to be part of a truly tight-knit community. No matter where you go, you’re almost guaranteed to run into someone you know, which always turns into a chance to catch up and hear what’s going on in people’s lives. There’s also a strong sense of generosity here; people genuinely look out for each other and are always willing to help or lend a hand.
