What does a Systems Administrator II do?

Manage and operates network hardware, software and operating systems, including the installation, management, and maintenance of network systems.  Monitors performance and maintains security levels of the network. Administer the Organization’s server environment, including VMWare, Exchange, and SAN environment. Adherence to Department/Company standards and established service level agreements [SLA’s] (i.e. checklists/procedures).

Essential Functions

Network Administration Support and Management

  • Implement, support and maintain networking and telecommunication systems as well as diagnose, analyze, and resolve network and security issues (i.e. upgrades, patches)
  • Facilitates and enforces IT and network related security (i.e. Settings) as well as reviews and responds to security and compliance findings
  • Administer network resiliency for Disaster Recovery
  • Maintain appropriate Permission levels

Server Administration Support and Management

  • Provisions servers and other networking equipment into the environment
  • Research and recommend new features implementation. Identify, Recommend, and Implement process (i.e. checklists) enhancements related to security and efficiencies
  • Administers email systems and internet filters
  • Manage Virtual, SAN and backup environments to include appropriate replication schedules
  • Administers System Health/Alerting System
  • Administers data backups and restoration

Support Desk

  • Advanced level expertise for Support Desk
  • Responds to Support Desk requests as assigned
  • Answers incoming support desk phone calls and manages ticket queue
  • Provision and maintain inventory for Hardware and Software

Desired Certifications and Licenses

  • A+ Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • MCSA and Security+ certification or equivalent knowledge

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in/ Proficiency with Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco, and Equallogics SAN technology
  • Displays high level of regard for trust and confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Displays strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively uses analytical skills to solve technical, as well as, non-technical problems
  • Prior knowledge of banking regulations is preferred
  • Ability to adapt to change

Desired Job Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience – Business Line Related
  • Experience in a professional, service focused and fast-paced environment

Desired Education

  • High school or General Education Diploma
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred

Working Conditions/Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Lifting and moving of moderately heavy objects on occasion
  • Normally seated for extended periods of time
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Some exposure to outdoor elements and inclement weather
  • Frequent lifting, stretching, bending, walking, climbing and pushing
