What does a Maintenance Technician do?

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing diversified duties which include, but are not limited to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment and facilities according to safety and maintenance systems as well as processes in support of company business goals and objectives.  This includes prioritizing, responding, ensuring quality service delivery, and documenting requests, repairs, and maintenance resolutions for all areas. This individual investigates and resolves routine problems, and recommends solutions to the more complex/costly maintenance issues.

Essential Functions

Responsible for day to day Maintenance Tasks 

  • Completes and logs work orders; assists with inventory of supplies;  maintains appropriate stock levels; maintains furniture, fixtures, and equipment along with any associated documentation; assists with employee moves/relocations; completes project work as directed; on call as necessary for emergency maintenance situations (24-hour)

Building and Grounds Maintenance

  • Furniture, fixture, and equipment maintenance; performs general carpentry projects; painting; recycling maintenance; fixture maintenance (interior and exterior); performs general cleaning duties as needed; maintains storage areas; installs and maintains signage as directed; general grounds maintenance (i.e. remove debris, assist with snow removal, etc.)

Life and Safety Maintenance

  • Maintains acceptable environment conditions (i.e. corrects conditions that present risk of personal injury, health, and/or safety); resolves deficiencies identified from Life & Safety inspections; performs tasks according to OSHA guidelines and safety protocols; maintains documentation related to life safety

  • Willingness to take on additional tasks and duties
  • After (business) hours work and support as necessary

Desired Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs is preferred
  • Displays high level of regard for trust and confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Displays strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively uses analytical skills to solve technical, as well as, non-technical problems
  • Ability to adapt to change

Desired Job Experience

  • 3+ years of experience performing a wide variety of building and ground maintenance tasks
  • Experience in a professional, service focused, and fast-paced environment

Desired Education

  • High school or General Education Diploma

Working Conditions/Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Lifting and moving of heavy objects on occasion
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Some exposure to outdoor elements and inclement weather
  • Frequent lifting, stretching, bending, walking, climbing and pushing
