PORTSMOUTH, NH — May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Kennebunk Savings is kicking it off with a $10,000 donation to Seacoast Mental Health Center (SMHC). Seacoast Mental Health Center operates two offices in Portsmouth and Exeter, NH and has named the bank its “Mental Health Awareness” sponsor for the month.

SMHC, one of 10 community mental health centers in the state of New Hampshire, provides care to uninsured and underinsured populations, with services like 24-hour emergency assistance, individual and group therapy, case management and more.

“Since 2011, Kennebunk Savings has been a steadfast supporter of our mission to provide a broad, comprehensive array of high-quality, effective and accessible mental health services to residents of the eastern half of Rockingham County,” said Jay Couture, MHA, President & CEO of SMHC. “We value their generous partnership and commend their efforts to ensure our community members have access to adequate support and services for their mental illness and recovery.”

“Access to inclusive quality mental health care can be life changing,” observed Bradford C. Paige, the Bank’s President and CEO. “Making sure that everyone in our communities feels safe and able to seek quality support is critical in ensuring all the members of our communities have the opportunity to thrive.” The Bank also recently funded a similar effort in Maine, issuing a $10,000 grant to Sweetser, a Maine mental health care provider.
