We’ve upgraded to Real Time Processing for most transactions, meaning your account balance updates almost instantly as you spend, deposit, or transfer funds. Whether you’re withdrawing cash, making a purchase, or sending money, you’ll see the changes right away giving you a clearer picture of your finances and helping you respond quickly to any unusual activity.

Real Time Processing by Transaction Type

  • ATM Transactions: When you withdraw cash, the system verifies your credentials, checks your balance, and deducts funds immediately, updating your account balance instantly.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) Purchases: Swiping or tapping your card at a store triggers immediate authorization and fund deduction from your account.
  • Digital Payment Apps: (Pay a Friend, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle): Money sent through person-to-person payment apps may move between accounts within seconds, instantly updating your available balance. Timing may vary based on the app you are using, and your personal settings.
  • Cash Transactions: If you withdraw or deposit cash at a branch, it will be reflected in your balance immediately.
  • Checks: When you write a check, there are some variables for when it is deducted from your account depending upon when and where the payee cashes/deposits the check. If the payee of a check cashes or deposits the check through Kennebunk Savings, the funds will be deducted from your balance immediately. Otherwise, the bank receives checks in batches and processes them from the smallest to largest dollar amounts. A check transaction can be posted to your account as early as the day the item is provided to the payee.
  • ACH payments: Automatic Clearing House (ACH) transactions (like direct deposits and bill payments) post as credits first, then debits from smallest to largest. These are processed in batches multiple times a day. When a batch is processed, it is immediately posted to your account.
