Fraudsters never take a break. They are always looking for ways to gain access to your personal information. In the latest scam, customers receive a text message that appears to be from Kennebunk Savings Bank. The text asks the customer if they recognize an attempted debit card transaction. When the customer replies “no” another message comes up saying a Kennebunk Savings Bank representative will contact them (see the example below). That’s when a scammer, impersonating a bank representative, calls the customer and convinces them to share their personal information.

If you receive one of these texts, please:

  1. Look at it carefully. Are there typos or poor grammar? That’s a sure sign the text is illegitimate.
  2. Remember, we would ask the customer to call us if there was suspected fraud.
  3. Call our Customer Care team at 800-339-6573 or visit your local branch before taking any action!
