WELLS, MAINE – The Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation’s Huntington Common Charitable Fund (HCCF) is giving $21,000 to the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center. The donation will fund repairs and upgrades for the facility’s kitchen, which is central to much of their monthly programming.
“We’ve been using this kitchen for 20 years – it’s original to when the center first opened,” said Rita Sevigny, Director at the Center. “The countertops are old and cracked and the cabinets are breaking apart, and it’s no longer safe for our members and volunteers working in the kitchen.”
“Each winter we have a group of bank employees who volunteer at the Center for their Days of Warming—these really wonderful community events that bring people together over a meal,” said Lex Meagher, the Bank’s President and CEO. “Between their pancake breakfasts and bingo nights and so much more, it’s a priority for us to ensure that these programs continue for older adults in the Wells, Ogunquit and surrounding communities.” The repairs and upgrades will be made this winter, after bingo season ends, in anticipation of the start of Days of Warming in 2026.
The Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center opened in 2004, providing hundreds of services and programs annually to more than 600 members. In addition to serving permanent and seasonal residents of Wells and Ogunquit, they have older adults from Kennebunk, Sanford, Kittery, Berwick and all over York County who enjoy their programs.
The HCCF was established to enrich the lives of older adults living in York County. Every quarter, Kennebunk Savings funds a wide variety of project proposals from local nonprofits. The next deadline for proposals is September 30th, 2025. Nonprofit organizations proposing programs meeting the HCCF’s criteria can apply on the bank’s website.
