What does a Chief Technology Officer do?

Oversees and directs management of the company’s daily IT operations. Provide strategic direction for the development of processes and systems within Information Systems environment. Manage network policies and procedures for the protection of information stored on the network. Direct, plan, and facilitate IT related projects. Other responsibilities include maintaining strong project management skills, collaborating across business lines, working with multiple internal and external teams/vendors, and directing the establishment of Department/Company standards and service level agreements (SLA’s). Responsible for organizational, people and financial management activities.

Essential Functions

Oversees & directs daily IT operations

  • Provides Leadership and Management of the Network Administration area to include guiding and directing the Network Administration Manager and staff
    Manages and makes recommendations to senior management regarding enterprise architecture, responsible to oversee and ensure projects come in on time and on budget
    Responsible for managing to budget and recommending expense reduction/efficiencies

Oversees and directs disaster recovery and testing

  • Maintains Disaster Recovery for Network and Systems areas
  • Oversees and maintains testing documentation
  • Oversees and manages recovery process and priorities

Information security

  • Ensures vulnerabilities are remediated in a timely fashion

  • Understands, supports and adheres to applicable organizational policies/procedures and state/federal regulations
  • Consistently emphasizes the importance of teamwork in the department and company at large
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of company news and information
  • Responsible for completing required training and policy review
  • May serve on various committees
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks and duties
  • After (business) hours work and support as necessary

Certifications/Licenses Required

  • MCSA or MCSE certification or equivalent knowledge

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient and skilled in Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco, and Networking
  • Displays high level of regard for trust and confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Displays strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effectively uses analytical skills to solve technical, as well as, non-technical problems
  • Prior knowledge of regulations within the financial services industry is preferred
  • Ability to adapt to change

Desired Job Experience

  • 7+ years of related experience in IT Management
  • 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in management capacities within a financial institution
  • Experience in a professional, service focused and fast-paced environment

Desired Education

  • High school or General Education Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent required

Working Conditions/Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Lifting and moving of moderately heavy objects on occasion
  • Normally seated for extended periods of time

  • Some exposure to outdoor elements and inclement weather
