Ken Reed Named President and CEO of Kennebunk Saving Bank

KENNEBUNK, Maine – Ken Reed has been named the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Kennebunk Savings Bank by the mutual bank’s Board of Trustees. Reed, formerly Kennebunk Savings’ Executive Vice President and CFO, succeeds Joel Stevens, previous President and CEO, who has retired.

Reed has been with Kennebunk Savings Bank as Executive Vice President of Retail and Human Resources since 1995. His tenure in that position was marked by an accelerated branch building program, adding the Eliot, Sanford, Berwick and Kittery offices, as well as expansion of products and services offered by the bank and its divisions and subsidiaries. In 2002, he added the title and duties of Chief Financial Officer as the bank continued its growth pattern. Under his guidance, Kennebunk Savings completed its line of financial services by adding investment advisory services to its banking and insurance lines of business. This full range of financial services is available to customers at all Kennebunk Savings Bank banking offices, as well as its two full service Financial Centers - one in Kennebunk, and its latest one, in York.

Reed joined Casco Bank & Trust in Portland upon graduation from Northeastern Business College. At Casco Northern Bank, he held a variety of management and executive positions including his last position as Senior Vice President of Marketing. Casco Northern Bank was acquired by Bank of Boston in the mid 1980’s and Reed was transferred to Boston in 1989. At Bank of Boston, Reed was named Director of Retail Marketing for New England. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing the integration of all the affiliate regional bank’s retail product development and pricing for customers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont and Maine. Reed left Bank of Boston in 1994 to return to his Maine roots and work closely with Joel Stevens at Kennebunk Savings Bank.

Reed has been involved with the United Way of Greater Portland and York County, and has served on the board of the Maine Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. He is a former director of the Northern New England School of Banking and is a member of the Maine Association of Community Banks and American Community Bankers. Reed and his wife, Anne, live in North Berwick.
