Kennebunk Savings Bank Rewards Employee Volunteerism with Special Donations to Local Charities

Kennebunk Savings, Morris Insurance and Kennebunk Financial Services employees who volunteer in their communities were given an additional way to support the charity of their choice last month through a special program of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation. The program, known as the bank’s Volunteer Investment Program, distributed $6,025 in unsolicited gifts to over 60 organizations chosen by the employees themselves.

Every year, Kennebunk Savings Bank conducts a survey determining how much time its employees and those of its subsidiaries, spend volunteering for non-profit and charitable organizations. Based on the number of volunteer hours, the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation awards employees by donating anywhere between $25 and $100 to the charity of their choice. This year, Kennebunk Savings Bank’s close connection with the York County community resulted in nearly 6,000 hours of volunteer work.

“We have what I like to call a ‘culture of caring’ at Kennebunk Savings and Morris Insurance,” explains Joel Stevens, president and CEO of Kennebunk Savings Bank. “Our employees truly care about the customers they serve and the communities where they work. That is quite evident in the amount of volunteer hours our employees provide. This unique program is one more way to show how much we value our employees and appreciate that, in the midst of their busy lives, they do so much for their communities.”

Kennebunk Savings Bank, a winner of the Maine Business for Social Responsibility Eagle Feather Award, is York County’s leading financial institution. A true community bank with a mutual charter, it distributes 10% of its earnings each year to non profit and charitable organizations throughout York County through its Community Investment Program. Since the inception of the program in 1994, Kennebunk Savings has provided over $3.5 million to non-profits either directly or through the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation.

With eleven banking offices from Sanford to Kittery, Kennebunk Savings offers customers a complete line of retail and business banking products and also offers financial planning and investments through Kennebunk Financial Services and personal commercial insurance through its subsidiary, Morris Insurance Services, Inc.
