NORTH BERWICK – The North Berwick Fire Department was able to
purchase an important firefighting package thanks to a $3,585 grant
from Kennebunk Savings Bank.
The Task
Force Tip Blitzfire Package will enable the North Berwick Fire
Department to more effectively put out fires with less manpower. This
water nozzle can be placed in a standing position and turned on to
osculate to cover an area with water in unmanned situations. This
benefit will allow the use of limited personnel in other critical
areas on the fire scene, an especially useful feature for the North
Berwick Fire Department which is an all volunteer department. “We
are very thankful to have been able to purchase this piece of
equipment,” notes Jim Moore, fire chief of the North Berwick Fire
Department. “Because most of our volunteer firefighters work full
time jobs, manpower availability varies at any given time, making an
independent water nozzle especially useful.”
“We are extremely pleased to be able to help the fire department
purchase this very important piece of equipment,” notes Dale
Barrows, manager of the Kennebunk Savings Bank North Berwick office.
“This fire department is such an important part of our town and we
are happy to be able to support them in their efforts to help keep us
safe and secure.”
The North Berwick Fire Department has between 24-30 volunteers. So far
this year, they have responded to 100 calls. They were able to
purchase this package through Fire Tech.
