Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation Donates $6,000 to Local Charities as Part of Volunteer Investment Program

KENNEBUNK, Maine – Just in time for Christmas, the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation is contributing unsolicited gifts totaling $6,025 to local charities as part of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Volunteer Investment Program (VIP).

Each year, Kennebunk Savings Bank surveys its employees and those of its subsidiary, Morris Insurance, on their volunteer activity. Based on the number of hours volunteered, the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation donates between $25 and $100 to the charity of each employee’s choice. With over 7,500 hours volunteered in 2003, the total amount of funds contributed to non-profit and charitable organizations is the highest since the program was instituted in 2000.

“Our commitment to the communities we serve doesn’t end with our monetary contributions to non-profit organizations in our area,” explains Joel Stevens, president and CEO of Kennebunk Savings Bank. “And our employees’ commitment to service doesn’t end when they leave work for the day. Our employees are extremely dedicated to the communities where they live and work and I think the amount of time they voluntarily provide proves just that. That’s why we’re happy to support our employees’ dedication with a special contribution to the charity of their choice.”

Over seventy charitable and non-profit organizations located throughout southern Maine have received unsolicited contributions this month through the Volunteer Investment Program.

Kennebunk Savings Bank, a winner of the Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility Eagle Feather Award, is York County’s leading financial institution. A true community bank, it distributes 10% of its earnings each year to non profit and charitable organizations throughout York County through the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation’s Community Investment Program. Since the inception of the program, Kennebunk Savings has provided over $3 million to non-profits directly and through their foundation. With eleven banking offices from Sanford to Kittery, Kennebunk Savings has a complete line of retail and business banking products and also offers personal and commercial insurance through its subsidiary, Morris Insurance Services, Inc.
