SANFORD, Maine – The Nasson Center Redevelopment Organization just
received a boost in their fundraising thanks to a $7,500 grant from
the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation.
The Nasson College Alumni Association joined with other members of the
community earlier this year to save the former Nasson Student Center
and transform it into a community center. Once renovations are
completed, the facility will be home to the Sanford Springvale Youth
Athletic Association, which serves more than 650 area youth. In
addition, the center is expected to be used for performances, cultural
events, tradeshows, adult sports leagues, and other recreational
programs.
“We are very pleased to lend our strong support to this effort,”
notes Mike Gerity, vice president and commercial lender at Kennebunk
Savings Bank. “This new community center is really needed -- it
offers the town of Sanford/Springvale a lot of opportunity. We think
having a community center will have a very positive impact on all the
members of our community, especially the children.”
The Nasson Redevelopment Committee needs to raise $950,000 to complete
all the renovations needed. Since they began fundraising in January,
they have attracted over $175,000 in contributions and from
