KENNEBUNK, Maine – After a strong first year of raising funds to
bring music opportunities to children in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport,
the Keith McClelland Fund has re-ignited its fundraising efforts for
the summer. The Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation has answered the
call by stepping forward with a $1,000 contribution towards the
scholarship fund named after the late music teacher, Keith McClelland.
The Keith McClelland Fund was formed in May of 2002 with the goal of
offering scholarships to children from Kindergarten through eighth
grade to cover expenses for musical summer camps, instruments, musical
instruction and other related musical or performing arts pursuits. “Keith
was an extraordinary man whose talent and selflessness touched a great
many people in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport,” notes Sarah Beard,
chairman of the Keith McClelland Fund Committee. “We felt the best
way to honor his memory was to create a scholarship to support the
love of music and performing arts in the younger children, just the
way he did when he was alive.”
The fund has already raised $10,000, contributed by individuals either
as straight donations or through the purchase of a special print
featuring Keith McClelland which was used as the fund’s initial
fundraiser. The committee hopes to raise $20,000 by the end of the
summer so they can begin offering scholarships in this upcoming fall.
If you are interested in contributing to the Keith McClelland Fund or
