KENNEBUNK, Maine -- Just in time for Christmas, the Kennebunk Savings
Bank Foundation will be contributing unsolicited gifts totaling $4,500
to local charities as part of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Volunteer
Investment Program (VIP).
Each year, Kennebunk Savings Bank surveys its employees and those of
its subsidiary, Morris Insurance, on their volunteer activity. Based
on the number of hours volunteered, the Kennebunk Savings Bank
Foundation donates between $25 and $100 to the charity of each
employee’s choice. With over 7,000 hours volunteered in 2002, the
total amount of funds contributed to non-profit and charitable
organizations is the highest since the program was instituted in
2000.
"Our commitment to the communities we serve doesn’t begin and
end with the monetary contributions we provide to non-profit
organizations in our area," explains Joel Stevens, president and
CEO of Kennebunk Savings Bank "And our employees’ commitment to
personal service doesn’t end when they leave work for the day. Our
employees are extremely dedicated to the communities where they live
and work, and I think the amount of hours they voluntarily provide
more than proves just that. It makes all of us proud to be part of an
organization where building community is such a strongly held value.
That’s why we’re happy to support our employees’ dedication with
a special contribution to the charity of their choice."
Over fifty charitable and non-profit organizations located throughout
southern Maine will be receiving unsolicited contributions in December
through the Volunteer Investment Program.
Kennebunk Savings Bank, a 2001 winner of the Maine Businesses for
Social Responsibility Eagle Feather Award, is York County’s leading
financial institution. A true community bank, it distributes 10% of
its earnings each year to non profit and charitable organizations
throughout York County through the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation’s
Community Investment Program. Since the inception of the program,
Kennebunk Savings has provided over $2.5 million dollars to
non-profits directly and through their foundation. With eleven banking
offices from Sanford to Kittery, Kennebunk Savings has a complete line
of retail and business banking products and also offers personal and
commercial insurance through its subsidiary, Morris Insurance
Services, Inc. In addition, Kennebunk Savings has a strong commitment
to York County’s business community and has twice earned the Finance
Authority of Maine (FAME) Bank of the Year Award and is a Small
