KENNEBUNK, Maine -- Joel W. Stevens, president and CEO of Kennebunk
Savings Bank has been elected to the board of directors of America’s
Community Bankers, the trade group for the nation’s community
banks.
The board of directors serves as the governing body of American
Community Banker’s association, which counts over 1,200 banks as its
members, and determines its legislative and regulatory policy agenda.
In addition, the group plays a critical role in carrying the
organization’s government relations message to Capitol Hill and
federal regulatory agencies.
"I’m very pleased to be elected to serve on this board,"
notes Stevens. "America’s Community Bankers is a highly
effective organization and they do an excellent job of representing
and advocating for small community banks like ourselves very well. In
fact, the priorities for the American Community Bankers are very much
in line with what Kennebunk Savings Bank views as important objectives
in serving our local market. I am looking forward to working with
other members of the board of directors in aiding community banks
throughout the country to better meet small business and consumer
financial service needs."
Each board member represents the interests of community banks located
in his or her state and region. Since ACB is a member-driven
organization, board members represent the views communicated to them
by community bankers on public policy issues and on products and
services to help them better compete.
Stevens began his banking career in 1970 and joined Kennebunk Savings
Bank as its president and CEO in 1993. Kennebunk Savings Bank is now
