KENNEBUNK, Maine - Over 100 children involved in the Eliot Community
Service Department summer camp programs and after school programming
will have a chance to express their artistic ability thanks to a new
Mobile Arts & Crafts Cabinet donated by the Kennebunk Savings Bank
Foundation.
The
contribution of the arts and crafts cabinet answers a real need of
children participating in community programs. Retailing at over
$1,500, the cart is filled with art supplies such as paints, brushes,
crayons, different papers, pastels, glue, and markers. The supplies
are all encased in a secure and durable mobile cabinet, which can be
used in a variety of venues and will last through the years.
Brett Simmons, director of Eliot Community Services notes the cabinet
has been one of the highlights of their summer programs, "The
Arts and Crafts Cabinet is an excellent added feature to our summer
programs. Both the staff and the kids enjoy what this piece of
equipment has provided. We will also be able to continue to use it for
our arts and crafts programs during the school year and are very
grateful that the foundation was able to purchase it for our
department."
Mike Moloney, Eliot banking office manager at Kennebunk Savings Bank,
was one of the proponents for making a significant contribution to the
Eliot Community Services Department. He commented, "Eliot
Community Services is a great organization. They do so much for our
town and I’m glad we’re able to make a contribution that can be
used throughout the year in many of their programs."
Kennebunk Savings Bank, a 2001 winner of the Maine Business for Social
Responsibility Eagle Feather Award, is York County’s leading
