$100,000 in Unsolicited Gifts from
Kennebunk Savings go to York County Charities
KENNEBUNK - Customers of Kennebunk Savings Bank and Morris Insurance
have voiced their support for 141 non-profit and charitable
organizations throughout York County in this year’s Community
Investment Ballot funded by Kennebunk Savings Bank and the Kennebunk
Savings Bank Foundation. These organizations will receive unsolicited
gifts from the Community Investment Ballot program totaling $100,000.
Each year, Kennebunk Savings and Morris Insurance customers receive
ballots asking for help in allocating a sizeable portion of the bank’s
and the foundation’s Community Investment Program grant dollars to
worthy non-profit organizations. The average grant amount is almost
$700 and, this year, thirty-five organizations will be receiving
unsolicited grants over $1,000.
Some of this year’s top award recipients include: Hospice of York -
$3,102; Southern Maine Health and Homecare Services - $2,746; Visiting
Nurse Service of Southern Maine - $2,746; York County Child Abuse and
Neglect Council - $3,522; Caring Unlimited - $1,874; Kennebunk Land
Trust - $2,068, River Tree Arts - $1,260; and the Southern Maine Area
Agency on Aging - $1,842.
The ballot is just one part of the Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation’s
Community Investment Program. Beginning in 1994, Kennebunk Savings
Bank pledged to return 10% of its annual earnings to non-profit and
charitable groups throughout York County. In 2002, Kennebunk Savings
Bank took the program to a new level by funding the Kennebunk Savings
Bank Foundation to ensure the continuity of the Community Investment
Program in the years to come. By the end of this year, the Community
Investment Program will have contributed a total of over $2.5 million
to charitable and non-profit organizations throughout York County
through the annual customer ballot, the Starfish volunteer awards, and
community grants. The Kennebunk Savings Bank Foundation aims to
continue this tradition of giving through the Community Investment
Program now and well into the future.
Kennebunk Savings Bank, a 2001 winner of the Maine Businesses for
Social Responsibility Eagle Feather Award, is York County’s leading
financial institution. A true community bank, it distributes 10% of
its earnings each year to non profit and charitable organizations
throughout York County through its Community Investment Program. With
eleven banking offices from Sanford to Kittery, Kennebunk Savings has
a complete line of retail and business banking products and also
offers personal and commercial insurance through its subsidiary,
Morris Insurance Services, Inc. In addition, Kennebunk Savings has a
strong commitment to York County’s business community and has twice
earned the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) Bank of the Year Award
and is a Small Business Administration (SBA) Preferred Lender.
