Kennebunk, Maine – It’s the annual Customer Ballot season at Kennebunk Savings! Each year through its Customer Ballot, Kennebunk Savings asks customers to help direct a percentage of its annual charitable giving and, based on those votes, distributes checks to the top 125 vote-getting nonprofit organizations. To celebrate the season, Kennebunk Savings hosted a “Ballot Bash” for area nonprofit organizations to attend, pick up their checks, and share in an ice-cream social.
Bradford C. Paige, Kennebunk Savings President and CEO said, “I’m proud to be part of an organization that is dedicated to giving back to the nonprofit community. Each year our customers tell us what causes and nonprofit organizations are important to them and we respond by donating on their behalf. As a fun way to distribute those checks, we hosted the Ballot Bash which was a great way for the groups to network at the same time.”
Checks given out range from just under $100 to over $7,000 and more than twenty organizations received a check for over $1,000. This year’s top recipients include: Animal Welfare Society, Another Chance Animal Rescue, Safe Haven Animal Shelter, Community Food Pantry, and York Community Food Pantry. Of the $80,000 being distributed through the Ballot, human needs organizations received 41%, civic organizations (such as libraries and animal organizations) received 36%, environmental organizations received 10%, arts organizations received 8%, and educational organizations received 5%.
Kennebunk Savings has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. Since 1994, the bank has donated more than $7.5 million to York County nonprofits.
